Introduction

To be a tour guide is a very demanding job. You shall be familiar not only with history and geography of the locality you work at; you should also be talkative, friendly and basically eager to always learn new things. Besides, you also probably need to be almost fluent in at least one of the foreign languages. This lesson is here to show you a possible direction you can follow. *

*NOTE: This lesson probably will not really help the people who already work as tour guides, as their level of English is certainly higher than this course aims. It shall be a great help to people, though, who are planning to become one of them in future. They will find here some useful phrases, exercises and sample listening practices.
Být cestovním průvodcem je velmi náročná práce. Musíte se vyznat nejen v historii a zeměpise lokality, ve které pracujete, měli byste být také komunikativní, přátelští a v zásadě odhodlaní stále se učit novým věcem. Kromě toho také pravděpodobně budete potřebovat téměř plynulou znalost alespoň jednoho cizího jazyka. Tato lekce je zde, aby vám ukázala možný směr, kterým se můžete vydat. *

*POZNÁMKA: Tato lekce pravděpodobně příliš nepomůže lidem, kteří již jako cestovní průvodci pracují, protože úroveň jejich angličtiny bude pravděpodobně vyšší, než na kterou směřuje tento kurz. Měla by ale být velkou pomocí pro ty, kteří teprve mají v plánu stát se průvodci v budoucnu. Najdou zde užitečné fráze a poslechová i jiná cvičení.

Right in front of you is the famous St Barbora´s Church. Přímo před vámi je ten slavný Chrám sv. Barbory.
On your left hand side you can see a beautiful statue of St Wenceslas, the patron of the Czechs. Po vaší levé ruce můžete vidět krásnou sochu svatého Václava, patrona Čechů.
On your right you will see a memorial dedicated to the victims of communism. Po pravé straně uvidíte památník obětem komunismu.
You may see a medieval fortification in the distance. V dálce můžete vidět středověké opevnění.
In a few moments we will be passing Krakovec castle ruin. Za několik okamžiků budeme míjet zříceninu hradu Krakovec.
The castle was founded by Jíra of Roztoky in the 14th century. Hrad byl založen Jírou z Roztok ve 14. století.

I would like to point out, that Krakovec Castle is known above all as a refuge for Master Jan Hus before his departure for Konstanz. Rád bych podotknul, že hrad Krakovec je znám jako útočiště Mistra Jana Husa před jeho odjezdem do Kostnice.
Take a good look at the remains of the Gothic features of the castle. Dobře se podívejte na pozůstatky gotických prvků hradu.

If you look straight ahead you should see the Sternberk castle. Když se podíváte přímo před sebe, měli byste vidět hrad Šternberk.
Keep your eyes open for the baby birds, it is their time of the year. Mějte oči otevřené, ať zahlédnete ptáčátka, toto je jejich období.
That lake over there is preserved by state. To jezero támhle je chráněno státem.
There is plenty to do during the whole year. Je zde pořád co dělat během celého roku.
You can ride a bike or a horse in summer and ski in winter. V létě se dá jezdit na kole nebo na koni a v zimě lyžovat.
The bus ride will take another 20 minutes. Jízda autem bude trvat ještě 20 minut.
Are you tired? Is anyone too tired to continue? Jste unavení? Je někdo příliš unavený, aby pokračoval?
We can have a 15 minute break if you like. Můžeme si dát 15 minutovou přestávku, pokud chcete..

Please, don´t forget to fasten your seatbelts. Prosím, nezapomeňte si uvázat bezpečnostní pásy.
Please keep the seatbelts fastened for the whole journey. Prosím, nechte si bezpečnostní pásy zapnuté po celou dobu jízdy.
Taking photographs is strictly forbidden inside the castle. Focení je v prostorách hradu přísně zakázáno.
It is possible to take photos in the castle gardens. V zahradách hradu je možno fotit.
Now we need to get back to the bus but you will have some free time to look around after the lunch. Nyní se musíme vrátit zpět k autobusu, ale po obědě budete mít možnost se podívat po okolí.
The bus will be leaving at 2 pm sharp, so please pay attention to the time.Autobus bude odjíždět přesně ve 2 hodiny, buďte prosím přesní.
